Seize the Day: free resources for benefit managers

June 17, 2019

Are you someone who manages health care benefits within a private company or a public agency, aka a “purchaser”?

Have you ever asked yourself, what is CPR and what can CPR do for me?

You’ve come to the right place! In this blog post, we go over exactly who CPR is and how we provide easy-to-use resources to support you in your job! We want to help you implement and achieve success in any initiatives aimed at getting better value for every health care dollar your organization spends.

Founded in 2010, Catalyst for Payment Reform (CPR) is an independent, 501c3 national non-profit organization working to catalyze employers, public purchasers and others to implement strategies that produce higher-value health care and improve the functioning of the health care marketplace.

As our name suggests, we initially focused on payment reform, or changing how health care is paid for, to help large, progressive purchasers make a difference in how the health care system functions. Over the course of our brief history, we expanded to address other strategies critical to helping employers achieve higher value health care, including benefit design, network design, and price and quality transparency, as well as topical challenges that keep employers up at night, such as behavioral health, telehealth, and pharmacy.

In each of these areas, we help purchasers know what to ask of health plans and other stakeholders and give them the tools they need to do it. Which of these situations resonates most with you?

You are gearing up for annual enrollment with the goal of increasing uptake in the product designed specifically to better connect your employees with the leading primary care providers in your area…CPR’s Communications Toolkit will be your best friend for the next few months!

You’re wondering how your overall health care program compares to best practices nationwide. Take the Mercer & CPR Vitals For Change Scorecard, and you’ll instantly receive your score compared to national averages, helping identify opportunities to optimize your program.

You’ve read the news about the new types of mergers happening in health care, and you’re curious how the changing landscape will ultimately affect your company. Watch the recording of our recent webinar with Equity Healthcare’s Bob Galvin and Harvard Business School’s Leemore Dafny.

Every week, you notice a new article about ACOs and how fast they’re spreading throughout the nation. You want to ask your third-party administrator (TPA) if your members are attributed to an ACO, but you have no idea where to start. CPR developed Standardized Plan ACO Reporting for Customers (SPARC) to get you this information in as clear and concise a manner as possible.

Last but not least, your job has you wearing a different hat every week. One day you’re searching for a health plan or TPA, the next day you’re analyzing your claims data and noticing that genetic testing spending has tripled in the last three years. We recommend bookmarking CPR’s Tool Library so you can quickly find the right tool for whatever hat you’re wearing that day.

As a mission-driven organization, we are committed to providing the bulk of our resources to employers and health care purchasers for free. To gain access to the tools above, create an account on our website by first filling out a quick online form.

Thank you for being part of the Catalyst Community! Please reach out to us at info@catalyze.org if you have any questions or would like to set up a time to talk with one of CPR’s staff members.
